Recently we were contacted for a part for a Rolls Royce car! A customer in Australia recently purchased a couple of rotor buttons and distributor caps for his Rolls Royce. Although the cap and rotor button are made for an Allis Chalmers Tractor, the same distributor was used by Rolls Royce for his 1955 Silver Cloud I. With our parts, he reports, “I can now rest a 20c coin on the top of the motor and it won’t fall off. Royce had a different style cap – but it all comes out the same. I’m keeping my original equipment and using your caps and rotors while no-one is looking under the bonnet (hood).”
He was having a hard time finding an agricultural parts supplier in America that was willing to sell to an overseas customer. Luckily, we ship worldwide everyday and he was able to complete the payment using Paypal.
Our new Australian friend is a bit camera shy, so I’m not allowed to post any pictures with his face, but here are a few shots of his car and he promises more pictures of the distributor setup with our parts installed at a later date.

This car looks familiar. British isn’t it?
Hmm, it has an American Delco Remy distributor and GM Hydramatic transmission!!!!
Back in those days it was called the jerkomatic. But the weight of the Royce reduced that jerk.
Funny story I read was something along the lines of:
– the RR/Bentley Engineers tried to refine a GM transmission component, believing they could make the transmission smoother. The theory was sound, but the results not.
When a ceased transmission resulted, enquiries were made to the GM Engineers as to why.
Response from GM. “Oh we we made that component like that so the tranny wouldn’t seize”
Whilst the Royce and Bentley cars are very well constructed – for the most part haven’t made exclusive parts for 90 years.
