How do I test a fuel gauge?
Simply hook positive test lead to one side and negative test lead to the other, if the gauge needle moves it is good. Sometimes if a fuel gauge isn’t working it can have a bad ground, you can run an extra ground wire from gauge to sending unit.

So the ground goes to the sending unit? Is there also a hot wire? Where does the hot wire run to? I have a 1960 Ford 601.
There is a wire from the gauge to the sending unit,{works best with our gauge} and a ground wire.
