Keeping the Streets in New York Clear

So, this story goes back three (3) generations. Yes, my grandfather Fredrick Krenzer started plowing the sidewalks in the city of Rochester, New York, with horses. There is a whole fleet of Farmall tractors doing this job today. Most are owned by the Krenzer family, which contracts with the city of Rochester for snow removal on the sidewalks. They also do streets with loaders and Steiger tractors.

They operate a very large farm just south of the city. The family has had the longest-standing contract with the city of Rochester, around 90 years now. Over the years, the Krenzers kept converting these Farmall Super H’s, Super M’s, 300’s, 400’s, 450’s, and 460’s into sidewalk plows. The tractors are narrowed up to about 52″-56″ wide. All the rear tires are loaded, and 3 to 6 sets of rear weights have also been added. The city is divided into 58 sidewalk routes covering over 870 miles of walks.
