I have never lived on a farm. In fact, I have lived in big cities or near a big cities all my life. Right now, I live approximately 8 miles east of Pasadena, California. This is a very densely populated area. There’s very little farming going on near this location. But putting this aside, I have to say that I’ve always liked tractors. My mom told me when I was less than two years old my grandfather would give me rides on his tractor from time to time. His plot of land was not much more than an acre. He grew vegetables for the local market.
Well to shorten the story the best that I can, I found a tractor for sale at a very reasonable price and purchased it. None of my neighbors could figure out why anyone in the city would need a tractor. I must admit I was hard-pressed to find an answer to that question myself. The tractor had been sitting for five years. I got it started after five days, and did a lot of work on it myself. But eventually I turned it over to a professional restorer and the picture that I provided is from the day the tractor returned from restorer, and I parked in front of my house for my neighbors to see. I still love this old Farmall A. You might notice that the restorer mislabeled it as a Super A but it is not one. It’s a 1945 Farmall A.
I run it up and down the block now and then. My neighbors seem to enjoy it. I’m 77 years old and I have a couple of lady friends. I always kid them saying who needs a Ferrari when you have the tractor factor. This tractor is in such a good condition that I know it’ll will out last me. It’s nice to leave this fabulous old piece of machinery around for the generations to come.
