Tractor Stories – Father & Son Project
We found this tractor at a local farm sale. I remember seeing a couple of 50's when I was younger and had always wanted one. There are plenty of A's and B's around the country but you don't see many of the numbered series anymore. The tin was straight and ran so-so. My dad is the 2-cylinder mechanic of the family and put in new plugs and wires along with a reconditioned carburetor. He also helped me grind the valves and put in new rings. We finally got it running smooth once again. I did most all of the paint work except for the hood which the local body man took care of. Plenty of the parts came from Steiner including the seat, chrome stack and new gauges. We always appreciated their prompt delivery. I could order on a Monday here in Nebraska and like clockwork they would be delivered for our weekend tinkering on Thursday! This tractor will mainly be used for shows, parades and a few tractor rides. It may even help us plow the garden a time or two. I will always cherish this tractor because my father and I worked on it together and it's something that will always remind me of him.
Thanks!
