Refreshing a 1959 Massey Ferguson: My Journey with Stella
|
I’ve got a 1959 Massey Ferguson 50 with a Z-134 Continental gasoline engine. I bought it used in 1997 to grade our road, pull logs out, and split wood.
I’ve done several upgrades to her, I call her Stella. Some of the parts I bought from Steiner Tractor Parts. One of the items I bought was a seat cushion that turned out to be a perfect fit! It has held up great, especially considering she’s kept outside year-round with only a cover on her when it rains. I’ve found that all the parts I’ve bought from Steiner Tractor have fit well and are still holding up great.

I did buy a newer tractor in 2018 which is a diesel, and of course a Massey Ferguson model 1526; Nadine works primarily with my 1 ton dump truck. Stella is the first tractor I’ve ever owned, and she’s the first in our family. She’s a keeper because of that, and she’s so reliable that she’ll always be a working tractor. But someday, I want to give her a cosmetic refresh. I know with Steiner’s help, she’ll be around for a long time.
