Ford 8N and Farm Wagon Restoration
|
This is my 1948 Ford 8N with a Sherman Overdrive. I bought it in pretty rough shape from a fellow tractor club member, but I was determined to restore it. I overhauled the engine, straightened and refurbished all the sheet metal. Then replaced the front tires, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. Later, I added a 12-volt alternator and a new battery to make it even more reliable.

The other project I’ve been working on is a wagon I restored in 2022 and 2023. It was originally bought in the 1980’s and was in terrible condition. Over time, it got even worse, so I decided to restore it. I replaced almost everything except for the two axles. According to the pictures available, this was probably a mountain wagon used for farming. It came from around Grangeville Idaho in the early years, 1920’s, to maybe 1930’s. You can still see the original date it was made, 1911, marked on the inside of the axles.

I purchased the wheels for the new wagon from a company in South Dakota, and I reused all the metal parts from the old wagon. The actual reconstruction took me a little less than a year.
