I bought my John Deere MTN (single front wheel) from the original owner in 1969. It came with his imprint in the hood, and this story.
Back in the early 1950’s he was using the tractor to log his property here in Southern Oregon. It happened one evening when after many hours of work, that he backed one of the tractor tires up against a small stump. He was in a hurry to get back to his house, and rather than go forward and turning around in the dark, he decided to ‘pour the coals to it’. He opened up the throttle, and the tractor flipped over and crushed him. Click here for the rest of Stevens story and other tractor stories.
