Ford Tractor is Heading Home

Gene Hopkins of Cottondale, Alabama is the winner of Steiner Tractor Parts, Inc. 40 year anniversary tractor sweepstakes. Gene’s name was drawn from 18,960 entries to win a restored Ford 8N.

Gene took a few days off from his job working for the city to drive up and get his new tractor. Gene, his wife Patti and long time friend Curtis made the trip to Steiner’s over the weekend and arrived at 8:00 am Monday right after we opened for the day.  After about an hour of chit chat, a small tour, and loading the tractor Gene and his group headed south trying to miss the next snow storm heading thru Michigan. I received an update from Gene about 20 miles north of Toledo when they came to a standstill on the expressway. Weather permitting they should arrive back in Alabama late Tuesday evening.

Gene said the 8N “will be used for parades and enjoyment, she will not be a work tractor.” His children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews are just as excited as Gene to get this tractor home. He said they have been coming up with all kinds of ideas of where to take the tractor.

Steiner Tractor Parts, Inc. is celebrating 40 years of selling New Parts for Old Tractors this year and we want to show our appreciation for helping us hit this milestone by giving away a Ford 8N in our online tractor sweepstakes.

Why the Ford 8N, well we are a Michigan based company and since the Ford 8N also started here we thought we had something in common. The Ford 8N is also having a big anniversary this year, it is officially 70 years since the first 8N rolled of the assembly line in Highland Park, Michigan.

We purchased this little lady in need of some TLC and got her a face lift and some under the hood care. 2018 Catalog Cover Reveal

It’s official, the 2018 catalog cover has been chosen!

The 2018 catalog cover has been chosen. The photo featured on the cover was submitted by David Sass of North Central, Idaho. “This is a 1954 John Deere 60 with a 224T baler. This is an original tractor that has never been repainted or restored which I use to bale about 1,000 bales a year,” said David. Congratulations, David!

Warehouse Addition Update

The outside of the 40,000+ square foot warehouse addition is looking closer to completion, at least on the outside. The roof is on and they are finishing the trim work around the top.

Consumers Energy was out this week to install a second transformer for the addition. The addition is separated from the current warehouse by a concrete firewall and will have 4 large fire shutter doors that will separate the two parts of the building if there were a fire.

Next week they will begin laying the ground work before pouring the concrete floor. Electricians will be out to run conduit that will run under the floor and prep work will begin on the ground.

Busy Week and Lots of Progress

Things are really starting to come together on the warehouse addition. Even in the snow and freezing cold the progress continues. Yesterday it was 20 degrees with 18 mph winds and a wind chill of 4 degrees.

 

Steel Work Has Begun

After a few week setback things are back up and running. The crane broke a seal and needed repair and recertification before they could begin erecting the steel.

Yesterday they started back to work and as you can see our Michigan weather kicked in and decided to throw down a little snow. The weather didn’t stop them and we are excited to see action again out here.

The Final Skeleton Comes Down

The last pieces of the hoop barn are coming down in preparation for the next step on the warehouse expansion. The new storage barn was completed in November and everything was moved over. Now Cover-All Storage Buildings will finish removing the frame so it can be used again with a new cover, we love recycling :-).

With the footers poured and the old tent out of the way they are ready to begin the steel frame on the 40,140 square foot warehouse expansion.

A little of the past, a little of the future.

As the year comes to a close we are looking back not only on 2016, but the many years at Steiner Tractor Parts, Inc.

In 2017 we will be celebrating 40 years of selling new parts for old tractors. As part of this milestone anniversary we have many plans to show our appreciation to our amazing customers, take a walk down memory lane as well, and show everyone a sneak peak of things to come. In this first post we will take a look at the original groundbreaking of our building in Lennon along with our current expansion project.

Our STP family has grown from a handful to over 50 full time employees. We have gone from operating out of an office in the home of Dave and Sue Steiner, the founders of STP, to our current 45,000 square feet location on just under 40 acres in Lennon Michigan where we have warehouse, office and retail space under one roof. In April of 2017 we will finish phase one of our latest renovation, we are adding 40,140 square feet to our warehouse. This addition will help us with storage of parts, as well as making it quicker to access parts and to process your orders.

In order to complete the addition a few other things were necessary. First we had to build a 60 x 200 foot pole barn for storage of our tractors used for testing new parts. We also had to increase our retention pond to the size of a small lake (haha). Take a look at some of the pictures and check back under the “40th Anniversary Celebration” category for updates.

Construction of our Lennon, Michigan location with warehouse, office space and retail store began in June of 2002.

The Trucks Have Arrived
