Papa Bill, JoJo and a Ford 600

by Papa Bill James Brewington – Age 80

Approximately 10 years ago I purchased and began restoration of this 1957 Ford 600 Tractor for my grandson Joseph (Jojo), who had moved from Raleigh North Carolina to the country with his family, onto his great-great grandfather’s farmland.

Jojo was so small, his mother required me to install seat belts on the tractor seat. He named his 2-acre vegetable garden – Jojos Farm and what a success it became, selling watermelons, corn, and collards as his major crops and breeding Boer goats.

Upon graduation from High School in 2026 he joined the US AirForce to pursue his training in structural/construction engineering (still loving to work outdoors with his hands). This Ford Tractor will always remind me (his PAPA) and him (Jojo) of all the hard work and memories we had together. We as a family reside on tribal land as part of the Lumbee Tribe recently federally recognized as the 575th federal tribe. Farming and working hard is part of our heritage we are more than proud of within all family generations.
