Kathy’s Pink Power

My name is Kathy Buxton my husband Rick and I live in Grain Valley, Missouri, and we love old farm tractors! We want to share our story about our 1955 Farmall 300 with you. We inherited the tractor from my Dad so it has a lot of sentimental value to us. The model year is the year my parents were married (although Dad acquired it many years later).
In 2015 we attended a Red Power Roundup event in Sedalia, Missouri. That year they had a whole row of old Farmall tractors painted various shades of pink to honor breast cancer sufferers. I was moved to tears cause I’d never seen such a sight and because I am also a breast cancer survivor of now 25 years! I turned to my husband and told him I wanted a pink tractor too! I never forgot that sight.
It was a couple years later when my sweet hubby made that dream come true for me. Rick and our son, Brad Buxton, overhauled the old 300 down to the bolts into this beauty which I dubbed “Pink Power”. Brad spent hour upon hour painting and polishing the hood which shines like glass! Rick arranged custom pin striping including my name. It was a labor of love.💗

Since then we’ve participated in multiple parades and shows together. Everywhere we go Pink gets attention as people really relate to her. Seems everyone knows someone touched by breast cancer in one form or another. People also seem to get a kick out of seeing a woman driving that old tractor! People smile, wave and cheer when we go by. Many with tears in their eyes. Some have mouthed “thank you” to me which I took as an acknowledgement of shared pain and a celebration of victory for me. Thank you for the opportunity to share our story. It wouldn’t be possible without Steiner!
