A trade; John Deere MT for a pair of mules

This tractor is a 1949 John Deere MT, my grandfather purchased new, and my father used as a teenager and young adult to help work the family farm. My father used to tell the story about how this was their first tractor, and his father sold their pair of mules to purchase it. My dad said he did not miss plowing fields behind a pair of mules.

After my grandparents passed, the tractor remained in the family but sat outside in a field for over 20 years before being moved to an old shed where it sat for another 10. I was able to acquire the tractor non-running and in very rough shape about 3 years ago, but was not able to get it fully restored before my dad passed last year. I completed it a few months ago and I know my dad is looking down with a big smile. This tractor will be passed down to my son and remain a part of the Bennett family and legacy.
