The Nostalgia of My Grandfather’s Massey Ferguson 65

As a small child I remember my grandfather owning and using this Massey Ferguson 65 dieselmatic on our small family farm in North Carolina. He used it to plow, disc, plant, bush hog and even haul firewood.

He told me he bought it second hand. As an adult I grew a strong fascination for old tractors and asked him to consider selling me the old tractor with plans to restore it. After some time my grandfather called me up and offered to give me his tractor as it had been sitting unused for several years.

In the next months I put a new battery in the Massey and of course it fired right up. I cleaned it up the best I could and moved it to its new home where I could service it with a fresh oil change, and I started lightly using it for about a year before it was sent off for more detailed work. It received a full paint job, new tires, decals, repaired lights, new fuel filters and a new PTO seal, all done by an individual who enjoys restoring tractors. It was completed in December of 2023 and I have been using it ever since.

This beautiful tractor has a priceless sentimental value with me, plus they just don’t make them like this anymore.
