Tractors, Barns and Lessons Learned

Massey tractor

As a farm kid who moved away, but who’s soul remained on the farm, these tractors hold a special place in my heart. From their seats and in that barn behind them were many memories made, but more importantly lessons learned.

Tractor rides seem fun until you end up in a miserably hot hay mound or unloading feed. Inside the barn those bottle calves are cute until the bottles turn to buckets and the feed turns to crap you have to shovel. But I’ll never forget the countless fair calves or the calves who required a little extra attention.

Each season brought a new adventure in that barn and on these tractors, but these tractors and that barn are more than just equipment and a structure, they are an integral part of the family farm. The next generation looks up and sees the fun of big toys, but later in life they see a respect for lessons that could only have been learned on and around those tractors.
