1964 Allis Chalmers D-17
|
I grew up on a cattle farm in Western Pennsylvania. My Dad bought this 1964 Allis Chalmers D-17 Series III in 1979. Piror to that we farmed with a Farmall Super C. Dad wanted to upgrade our operation and get a bigger tractor that could run a Haybine and pull a 3-bottom plow. Dad quit raising beef in the 90’s and the Allis was used to brushhog the old fields.

Dad decided last year to retire Allis and get a modern tractor with a loader and 3-point hitch. I was given the tractor after Dad had the Engine and running gear completely overhaulled. She starts easily and still has all the power I remember from years past. I plan to repaint the tractor in the coming years, and outfit her with new decals. I am currently fixing and replacing small items. This is still a working tractor on my farm in Virginia, and I plan to continue using her as long as I can.
