1953 John Deere 40S
Here is my 1953 John Deere Model 40S. My father bought her in 1970 from the original owner in Palmyra, New York to use on our 40 acre farm. This is the tractor I learned to drive on. When dad passed in 1995, I went and picked her up on a flat bed trailer and had four offers to to sell her along the way. She is still a working girl, from cleaning paddocks, sewing feed strips, to hay rides. This photo is from last summers pasture clean up where she hauled big trees to the burn pile. My dad always said “that tractor is as handy as a pocket on a shirt”!
