Tractor Story – 1957 Cockshutt 40

This is my 1957 Cockshutt 40. When I was about 5 I told my Grandpa that someday it would be mine. Back in the day it had a corn picker on it, and at one point had combine tires on it for weight transfer pulling. Towards the end of its use a valve for propane was braised on it to run a corn dryer. I’m almost 16 and I’ve made some money, I’ve made a lot of progress in figuring out and understanding mechanics. My Grandpa said, do you want to work on the Cockshutt? I jumped on that. She’s a little rough, but by next fall I hope to have it back to show quality. It’s expensive, but its worth more than money to see my Grandpa smile.
