Tractor Stories – 1942 Farmall H

Image004

My name is Alex Fevig age 15. I recently bought a 1942 Farmall H from a friend of mine that has a lot of tractors. It was in pretty rough shape. It ran and drove fine but it couldn’t pull a hen off her nest! I ended up painting the whole tractor with aerosol cans after a ton of wire-wheeling and sanding. I decided to show off my project so I took her down to Rollag, MN Steam Thrashers Reunion. I ended up getting talked into putting it on the dyno and found out that it put out a whole 12hp! So we hauled it home and the minute I ran it off the trailer I pulled the head off and gave it to a buddy of mine that worked a IH dealership he shaved and put all new valves in the head and while he was doing that I Had the Mag rebuilt and carb gone through (all myself) now she ticks like a Swiss watch, but unfortunately I haven’t had it dynoed yet but I’m sure it’s a heck of a lot better!
