This 1949 Massey-Harris Pony was purchased by my great grandfather Paul Martin new that year and restored in 2004 by my grandfather and I. It has original tires and other than paint, very little done to it mechanically or cosmetically.
I am now the 4th generation owner of the tractor and recreated the color photos through the years in the original spot on the old family farm property in Northeast Ohio. My Great-Grandfather (black & white photo) my grandfather (2nd generation), Mom & Aunt (3rd generation), and myself (top image).
Paul had lived on the farm for several years using horses for farm chores until he decided it was time to transition to tractor power in 1949. He used the tractor for plowing, disking, cultivating, and pulling farm produce and nursery stock up to be sold at his roadside stand. After many years of use, the tractor was restored in the early 2000’s. No engine work was done at this time and the engine is still in its original factory condition. Only light mechanical work and paint was needed for the restoration. The Goodyear tires are original factory equipment as well. The original owner’s and service manual is also still intact.
