When I bought this tractor it had been sitting for seven years. The original owner had died, and the widow wanted the tractor gone. My son and I pushed it downhill onto his trailer. We worked on it but couldn’t get it to run. We installed an electronic ignition in the front-mounted distributor, but it still would not run.
My son talked to someone on the Redbelly Facebook site and was able to send the distributor to them. The bushing was worn out on the distributor shaft. He rebuilt the insides, and it has been running like a champ since. I adjust the brakes on occasion and used it to grade my driveway and bush hog the pasture. I’m in the process of building a pasture drag for the horse manure that seems to accumulate in certain spots.
I’ve always wanted a Ford 8N since I first saw one as a kid. I’m a few months older than the tractor. Both of us are running strong.
