The object of the South Western Restoration Group, which moved from Bookaar to Cobden in 2010, is to foster interest in the restitution and restoration of steam and oil engines and other vintage articles.
The big event of the year is held in March – the annual rally with invitations extended to other clubs with similar interests and, of course, the public.
In the meantime, the Cobden Spring Festival weekend in October provides the chance for visitors to check out the fascinating exhibition of engines. The rally grounds and sheds are open on Saturday afternoon and all day on Sunday.
The club was officially formed in 1978 with Ron Jackson president and John Haden secretary.
Current membership is about 200 which includes nine life members. New members with same interests are most welcome. For insurance purposes, you have to be over 10 years-old and under 80 years-old.
The group meets on the third Sunday of the month at its club grounds on Grayland St, Cobden.
We look forward to creating something really special at our new grounds for all to enjoy in the future, and to show our thanks to the many people who have supported us.
