This is my 1944 John Deere LA. My dad and I picked up this tractor 20 years ago for $500 in Georgia. We took it home and parked it under the pole barn, and that’s where it sat for 20 years. It had all the attachments when we got it, but through the years they were stolen for scrap. This past summer of 2013 I decided to go and get it. We had 2 tractors there one is a 1960 International Cub lo-boy that my dad and I restored 25 years ago and the John Deere. I picked up both of them to restore. The John Deere was in bad shape, I had to rebuild the motor, carb, mag, and final drives, and had to replace all brake parts. The body parts were in good shape, just needed sandblasted and painted. The rear wheels had rusted through around the valve stems, so I cut out the bad and welded in new metal. I was able to finish it before it got too cold. This was a fun restoration, and I would like to Thank everyone that helped me get it done.
