How do you get the old muffler off a John Deere M tractor?
Suzette Thomas says
The JD M muffler is held in place by 2 bolts that go through the muffler flange and screw into the manifold. Both bolts are most likely rusted into the manifold. Often you have to cut the bolts, drill the remainer out of the manifold and rethread the holes. Once you have the bolts cut, the muffler should pull straight up out of the manifold. Over the years, carbon may have built up and locked the muffler pipe into the manifold opening. Usually, some wiggling and twisting will break it loose and allow you to pull it out. Dennis
